January 31st

This week at d:one has been back to normal, but my weeks been mad with rehearsals for UDSU Theatre Society's Robinhood. The d:one schedule is filling up and everything has gone well this week. The news team did interviews at an dyslexia event, which was so good we put it online here. My show was much improved with planning in more detail than I usually do.

January 24th

The first week of d:one broadcasting in 2014, and it was rather busy. Issues with server payment meant we almost didn't manage to get back on air, but it was resolved by Callum in time. Then on Thursday we had the Give it a Go day, where anyone could have a go on d:one. We had 3 people try it out, and I had brilliant fun presenting with Gemma Pask. Even though we didn't get as many people as I had hoped we raised our profile, and many d:one members came down to help & we had a fun time.

January 17th

This week I've been ding all sorts. Most of this week has focused on my application for BBC work experience as it is very important to me, as well as he application I edited down one of my radio shows to add to my profile.

I'm back in Derby on Sunday, and already have a busy semester planned. In the first week I have 2 d:one team meetings, a d:one committee meeting, the Give it a Go day, introduction session for Employer Mentoring scheme plus the radio show, theatre society and lectures. Fun times. 

January 10th

This week I've been busy organising things for d:one, I've been sending lots of emails trying to get things done. I finalised details of d:one broadcasting from graduations events which is a great step for us, and I've done a list of events we're doing that I sent to the committee so we can keep on top of them. 

I'm excited and slightly apprehensive of the d:one Give it a Go Day because I've organised this on my own. This is a chance for anyone to have a go at being on the radio. There are half hour slots throughout the day where people can go into the d:one studio and have a go on air. I've organised a stall for people to sign up, with the marketing team manning that. This should be a good chance to get more people to join the station.

Whilst at home I decided to try visit University Radio York because they are a successful student radio station and it's where the boyfriends studies so I had knowledge of the university and reason to be there. They agreed,which was great as the longest running student station and they've won the most SRA awards. It was great to have a look around, chat to two of their committee and I've come away with a few ideas.

New year 2014

So I decided to be a lot more proactive this week. I received feedback for my SRA Awards entry which I found rather disappointing so I contacted them for further guidance, but I decided to use this to force myself to do more towards the career I want.

I'm been looking at various opportunities coming up with the BBC; there's Get In days so I'm keeping my open for when tickets become available, I'm going to apply for work experience when that opens and look into the Production Pool. I shall also update my CV. I also got round to emailing someone from BBC Radio Derby, as people have been telling me to keep contat going after we met.
