SRA Training Day - Derby

This week has been rather busy, starting off with a meeting with Jet Productions which is a video company in Derby that do some interesting work. I have been set up with this company as part of the university's Employee Mentoring Scheme, this is a great opportunity to learn about video production and they've said I can help on one of their productions.

I also had a CV workshop and first aid training session as part of my Futures Award, which means I'm nearer to completing this as well as learning some interesting stuff. I've been to d:one marketing & production team meetings which were good, plus took some equipment out so we can plan what we are doing for the UDSU elections.

Thursday saw me doing two radio shows and theatre society, then today I've got a careers appointment to sort out my CV and a few other bits. It's been a rather crazy week so I've decided to take myself home for a long weekend to chill out.

BBC Birmingham

On Monday I went to an event at BBC Birmingham with Ryan from d:one, this was a great opportunity to learn about the BBC graduate schemes. I am thinking about applying for the Production Trainee Scheme and Production Talent Pool because they are great ways of getting into the BBC. The application process seems to be complex and quite competitive but I think I'll give it a go as it'd be fantastic.

The rest of the week was pretty straight forward, but I have started the new The d:one Film Review Show which will be Thursdays at 5pm. This is a great opportunity to get a different sort of show on d:one and build a relationship with the Quad, as they are providing the film tickets. I did have some brilliant news about going on placement at the start of March.
